SHHHH!!!

After breakfast this morning, Hillary and Claire decided to cuddle up on the living room couch with their blankies. We sat there for a few minutes talking about what we'd be doing today and what they wanted to wear, etc. Then Hillary suggested that she and Claire play the quiet game. Claire quickly agreed and I just smiled! "This ought to last a good 30 seconds," I thought to myself. I decided to move into the kitchen and get some things done but be within earshot to see what would happen. FORTY-FIVE minutes later they were still sitting there, staring at each other and still snuggled under their blankets in complete SILENCE!! I don't really know who cracked first because as soon as I went upstairs the game was over. I suppose I should suggest they play more often!

New Rules at Our House

1. You must wait until Mom has just sat down before you need her to do something for you.

2. If Mom is eating, you must ask her to share it with you. It does not matter that it's one of the few things she can tolerate digesting....she'll be eating again in a half hour or so, in which case you can share again.

3. If Mom has just thrown up, you must take advantage of the opportunity to ask for something you really want. After all, there is only about a 15 minute window while she doesn't feel nauseous.

4. While Mom is laying down supposedly resting, you must not ask for anything.....unless you need a drink, a snack, to watch a movie, to play with a friend, help opening a door, help finding your shoes or jacket or socks, toilet paper in the bathroom, etc.

5. Hugs and kisses are still acceptable at anytime.

Claire Biffs It!

As we were walking home from Hillary's preschool, Claire got a little too excited about crossing the street and payed for her enthusiasm.

Dustin Turns 7!

My little man is seven today! When did he go from being a cute little toddler to a grown up boy? Time sure flies. Here are some birthday pics of Dustin: Some important things to remember about Dustin as he turns 7.

~He is a great little piano player and is learning so fast. If only we could get him to look at the music.

~Dustin loves to read and loves to go to school.

~One thing Dustin inherited from his dad is a love for video games. It think he'd be on his Leapster or on the Wii all day if I let him.

~Dustin is a great brother to all 3 of his sisters. He only gets too rough every once in awhile but they all love to play with him.

We love you, Dustin! I hope you have a great birthday!

Nada

At least 5 times in the past 2 weeks I have sat down and typed a few words, hoping something interesting would spring from the tips of my fingers and onto the screen. Each time I deleted what I wrote and walked away from the computer with a sigh.

Perhaps it is the post-holiday-winter-dwelling blues that I am experiencing. Maybe it's the fact that January always seems to be the longest month of the year. Or it could be the fact that I'm tired of doing the same thing day after day after day.

Either way, I got nothing.

Nothing funny. No photos. Nothing mildly entertaining (if you even thought I was entertaining in the first place).

However, I DO have the irresistible urge to eat chocolate all day while snuggled up in my bed with a good book and a heating pad to keep me warm since my other heater is in CA.

No, I am not doing that, but doesn't it sound good?
