To Lagoon on a Whim

On Saturday morning, we were on our way back home from a short visit to Keith's parent's house when we both decided to bag all the work we had planned for the day and pack up the kids and go to Lagoon. Yeah, so unlike me. It was a great day to be there. We only had to wait in 2 maybe 3 lines and the weather was perfect. Rachael and Dustin were able to go on any ride they wanted and Claire and Hillary were little daredevils. We took all our kids on the Tidal Wave, Rattlesnake Rapids and some other pretty scary rides. What a super-fabuloso-fun day!!! I'm so grateful for Keith who helps me be spontaneous!!! (Again, lots of pictures)

Hillary Moment

Last night Keith and I had arranged for Grandma and Grandpa R. to come and watch the kiddies while we went out on a date. This of course was cause for a great deal of excitement especially from Hillary who had been sick the past two days. As I was cleaning up the dinner mess in the kitchen she climbed up on the bar stool and we had the following conversation.

"Mom, I'm really excited for my babysitters tonight!"

"I know you are, Billy. It's going to be so much fun!"

"Mom, I know what you and Dad are going to do tonight while your alone."

"What's that?"

"Dad is going to take you out to dinner and eat you!!!"

Our Last, First Day of School

Hillary went to her first day of preschool this morning! She's been so excited for weeks now. It's been so hard for her to wait until after Labor Day when Rachael and Dustin got to begin school in August. But the day finally came and I couldn't get her to sit still all morning. I was pretty sure that because of her enthusiasm and readiness to go that I would be just fine sending her to school. WRONG! As Claire and I watched her walk away my eyes filled with tears at the thought of her being big enough to be away from me for 2 1/2 hours. What a cry baby I am! She had a great time and wishes she could go every single day!

Rachael's Baptism

Saturday, September 5, 2009 was Rachael's Baptism day. It went so well and we had so many people there (around 50) who came to show love and support for Rachael and our family. We had some significant spiritual experiences the week leading up to her big day and the spirit was very present that morning as well. Thank you to all who participated in the program and who were able to come and share in this special experience with us.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

My kids have a small fixation right now with the movie, "The Wizard of Oz". A couple of months ago it was "The Sound of Music". We watch it at least once a day, listen to the music in the car everywhere we go, and they periodically break into song whenever is suits them. What can you expect when you have Keith and me for parents, right? So I really shouldn't have been surprised when today as we walked down the busy aisles at Wal-Mart, Hillary and Claire stood in front of my cart, linked arms, started skipping, and at the top of their lungs began singing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road! We're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!" Believe me, I wish I'd had the presence of mind to whip out my cell phone camera. People were even moving out of the way so they could keep going down the road. I'm sure we provided plenty of people with smile or a giggle today. Just in case you were wondering, they didn't stop until we reached the car at which time the CD player kicked in and they switched tunes to "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead."
