No Longer a 1st Grader

Rachael and her teacher, Ms. Brock
Rach and her friend, Lucy

As of tomorrow Rachael is heading to 2nd grade. When did my little girl get so old? Today there was a program in Ms. Brock's classroom. It was fun with lots of songs her class had learned over the year. Rachael was also in the play "The Three Little Billy Goats" and was the littlest billy goat. Thanks to Aunt Miquelle who came with me and took still shots while I manned the video camera. It was a great performance and Rachael did such a wonderful job. She knew all the words to all the songs and wasn't afraid to sing her heart out. Way to go, sweetheart!!! I love you.

Crash, Boom, Bang

So, on Friday I had a really bad cold including stuffy nose, sore throat, headache and cough. In order to help me feel better I decided to take Dustin, Hillary and Claire to Arctic Circle to get an ice cream cone and a shake for me. As I made the quick right turn into the parking lot I was rear ended by a 16 year old kid in a Ford Probe. It's times like this that I'm glad I drive the beast of a car I do. His whole front passenger side was hanging off the frame and the hood had started to look like an accordion. I felt bad for him, as soon as he got out of his car and saw the damage, he started screaming and throwing a fit. He even threw himself on the grass and started rolling around. He had a hard time. Luckily all can be fixed and other than some whip lash there were no injuries. Hopefully the suburban will be fixed sooner than later.

6 Random Things About Me

I've been tagged by my crazy friend Tiesha to name 6 random things about myself. I don't know whether these have to be unknown facts or not. Oh, well....here we go.

1. I am only ticklish in a certain spot on my feet, right next to my pinky toe.

2. I am a humongous basketball fan. For those of you who knew me when, I played in high school and cheered even louder and more obnoxiously for my sisters games. Now that I'm grown up and a mature adult it's gotten worse. Just ask my father-in-law who recently saw me hurl a shoe at my TV during a recent Jazz game.

3. My latest fixation is Jamba Juice, particularly the Peanut Butter Moo'd flavor. Since I usually add in a booster I like to pretend it's good for me.

4. For the first time today I played the organ in Sacrament Meeting.

5. I love Show Tune Saturday on KOSY106.5. I try to listen to a little each week when my kids permit. So yes, that means I love show tunes. I've even been known to get a little wild and crazy when listening.

6. I have carpel tunnel in both hands which makes my playing the piano quite a feat lately (considering I am the ward choir pianist and played the organ today).

I now tag Stephanie, April and Tiff. Good luck.

Dustin's Preschool Graduation, May 22, 2008

Yesterday was Dustin's last day as a preschooler. Mom can't believe how fast the time has gone and soon he'll be off to kindergarten. Usually the graduation would be held outside but due to the weather his program was held inside and it was a bit squishy trying to fit all the family and friends into a small room. But it was special nonetheless. He played the gingerbread man in his class play and also played a fireman in the song "What I Want to be". Congratulations, Dustin!!! Mom and Dad are so proud of you and all you learned and accomplished this past year in preschool. We love you!!!

Staining the Fence

That's right, we finally buckled down and got staining our fence out of the way. What a huge job. I owe a GI-NORMOUS shout out and thank you to my brother TJ (aka. UncaTeej) and his best friend Kyle. They stuck with us for 7 whole hours on a Saturday until we got the job done. There was laughter, sweat, a little George Strait (woo hoo) and a whole lot of sunburns. I am burned to a crisp on my neck, arms and legs even after using 50 spf sunscreen two or three times. Like I said before, that's where Rachael gets it from. Enjoy the pics of our hard work and by the way, the fence looks awesome. Thanks a million TJ and Kyle, we love ya.

Hooray for Hillary!

I am pleased to announce that Hillary is fully potty trained. She's dry during the day, dry at night and Mom couldn't be happier! Plus she's been in such a good mood the last week. I forget how stressful learning to use the potty can be on the child. Now that she's got it down her disposition has perked up quite a bit. Plus it's nice to only have one child in diapers again. Way to go my little Hilly-Billy, I love you!!!

Friday, May 16, 2008

Today was Rachael's Teddy Bear Picnic at school. She was so excited to go with all of her friends to the park behind their school. Unfortunately the outing was 3 hours long not just during lunchtime. She came home with the worst sunburn she's ever had. I wish the school would have communicated with the parents better because had I known how long she'd be outside, I would have slathered her with sunscreen. Next time we'll just be prepared. Rach is pretty sore and I hope she can sleep tonight. She was unlucky enough to inherit her mom's fair and easily sunburned skin. Maybe she'll feel better tomorrow.
